Testimonials

I really enjoyed Matt Anderson’s show. His performance at Indian River is powerful, resonating, and yet intimate. It is a feeling like no other at any other venue I have been to. It should be on everyone’s ‘to do’ list. Thoroughly enjoyed by all.

A concert in St. Mary’s Church in Indian River can profoundly heighten one’s appreciation not only music itself, but for all that is behind, that surrounds and brings life to the music as we hear it.”
Todd MacLean (The Guardian, Charlottetown; July 18, 2014)
In the fall of 2014 – I believe – there was a young girl (mid teens) who came to play the piano. I wasn’t feeling real excited about having to sit through two hours of piano music but we wanted to go because our daughter plays piano and we thought we should just be there for this young pianist. Wow! I was blown away by her performance and it was one of the most enjoyable performances I had been to at the festival. I listened to her and enjoyed how she lit of the stage with every piece. We …

“Hard to pick one moment; it was another great season. The Men of the Deeps was certainly one of those special events; I had the opportunity to speak briefly with one of the men who confirmed that much of their emotional depth came from their own experiences in the mines. The venue itself is unmatched for beauty and for the acoustics. I always enjoy the concerts and am always wondering what the line-up will be for the next season – each year you bring such a broad spectrum of musicians it is tru…

Amazing acoustics and extremely talented artists and vocalists surrounded by a great view and a beautiful pavilion to socialize during intermission! Some of our favourites were Matt Anderson, Sarah Harmer, David Myles and of course midsummer magic with a variety of amazing voices.
Nathalie Ricard, Patron
Since we discovered the Indian River Festival eight years ago, we make sure our annual vacation in PEI coincides with the Midsummer Magic weekend. Listening to great music in the acoustically superb and architecturally stunning church is an experience not to be missed. We love every minute of your wonderful and varied programming.
M. Sherman, Vermont
“I enjoyed playing the piano. It had a lovely touch and resonance to it, and the acoustics in the church was magnificient… Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to perform at the festival this year. I hope that I’ll be invited to do so again another time.”
David Thompson, Youth Legacy performer
Michael Burgess and Doc music Doug Riley has to be the highlight of all the concerts. I wish it was possible to see them together again but of course that’s not possible. I hope they are playing music somewhere special. Matt’s performance was a good one too. A must to do when visiting PEI.
Donna Butler, Patron
Can’t think of any better reason to attend than getting the chance to hear international calibre musicians in an amazing space – the ambiance and acoustics are incredible – now with the reception area for intermission, it is a complete evening experience.
Barbara Bovaird, Patron
“St. Mary’s has become one of my favourite places to sing. The sound of the room is a blessing to anybody inside, on stage or in the pews. Accompanied by the gorgeous architecture of the building it is easily in my top 10 places to play.”
Matt Andersen, singer-songwriter
